As we continue on in the cluster stitch series, the next uses Double Crochet. Now, there are several ways to do a cluster stitch with Double Crochet, but this tutorial will go through really basic and easy version to get the hang of it! So lets dive in and learn the Double Crochet Cluster Stitch.

The Double Crochet Cluster Stitch can be done with almost any yarn or hook, so feel free to use whatever you have!

The Double Crochet Cluster Stitch is easy to learn, especially if you’ve mastered the Single Crochet and Half Double Crochet Cluster stithces.

It’s a two-row repeat, and is easily adjusted for whatever project you’d like to use it for.

You should start with a chain in multiples of 2.

Below you will find the written steps, followed by the step-by-step photo tutorial.

Abbreviations

  • sc – Single crochet
  • dc – Double Crochet
  • ch – Chain
  • chsp – Chain Space
  • sk- Skip
  • st – Stitch
  • yo – Yarn Over
  • *_* denoted repeat sequence

Double Crochet Cluster Stitch Written Instructions:

Foundation Chain: Chain any number in multiples of 2.

Row 1: Sc into the second ch from the hook, sc in to the next ch, *ch1, sk 1 ch, sc into the next ch*, repeat across, sc into the last ch, ch3 turn.

Row 2: Yo, insert hook into the first chsp, as if to make a dc, yo, pull through first 2 loops on the hook, *yo, insert hook into the same chsp, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through first 2 loops*, repeat until there are 5 loops on the hook, (as if to make 4 half completed dc), yo, pull through all 5 loops, repeat the cluster in each chsp across, once the last cluster is complete, ch1, and dc into the last st, ch1, turn.

Row 3: Sc into the first st, sc into the space before the cluster, *ch1, sc into the top of the next cluster*, repeat across, sc into the last st, ch3, turn.

Repeat row 2 and row 3 until your desired length!

Row 1

Sc in the second ch from the hook

Sc i the next ch, ch1

Sk 1 ch, sc into the next ch

Repeat across, sc into the last ch, ch3 turn.

Yo, insert hook into the first chsp, as if to make a dc, yo, pull through first 2 loops on the hook

Yo, insert hook into the same chsp, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through first 2 loops

Repeat until there are 5 loops on the hook, (as if to make 4 half completed dc)

yo, pull through all 5 loops, repeat the cluster in each chsp across

Once the last cluster is complete, ch1, and dc into the last st, ch1, turn.
