Cluster stitches are some of my favorites, so I thought this year I would go through some of the different cluster stitches for the Stitch Tutorials. I love how the cluster stitches move along so smoothly, almost like a wave! So, lets get started with the Single Crochet Cluster Stitch!

Materials

The materials I used for the swatch are:

*Bernat Super Value in Lavender
*Furls Turquoise crochet hook, I used sized I – 5.5mm

The Single Crochet Cluster Stitch can be done with almost any yarn or hook, so feel free to use whatever you have!

Learn The Single Crochet Cluster Stitch

The Single Crochet Cluster Stitch is quite an easy stitch once you get the hang of it. It flows nicely and is based on a 2-row repeat.

The pattern also has a wrong side (ws), and right side (rd); however both sides are lovely and offer a different look with fabulous texture.

You should start with a chain in multiples of 2.

Below you will find the written steps, followed by the step-by-step photo tutorial.

Abbreviations

sc – Single crochet
sc2tog – single crochet 2 together
ch – Chain
chsp – Chain Space
sk- Skip
st – Stitch
*_* denoted repeat sequence

Single Crochet Cluster Stitch Written Instructions:

Foundation Chain: Chain any number in multiples of 2.

Row 1 (WS): Sc into the second ch from the hook, *ch1, sk 1 ch, sc into the next ch*, repeat across, ch1, turn.

Row 2 (RS): Sc into the first st, ch1, sc2tog by inserting your hook into the next 2 chsps, ch1, *sc2tog inserting hook 1st into same chsp as previous st then into next chsp, ch1*, repeat across, sc into the last st, ch1, turn.

Row 3: Sc into the first st, ch1, *skp 1 ch, sc into the next st, ch1*, repeat across, sc into the last st, ch1, turn.

Repeat row 2 and row 3 until your desired length!

Steps For the Single Crochet Cluster Stitch With Pictures

Row 1 – Step 1

Sc in the second ch form the hook, ch1

Row 1 – Step 2

Skip 1 ch, sc in the next, ch1, repeat across, sc in the last st, ch1, turn

Row 2 – Step 1

Sc in the first st, ch1, sc2tog by inserting your hook into the next 2 chsps, ch1

Row 2 – Step 2

Sc2tog inserting hook 1st into same chsp as previous st then into next chsp, ch1, repeat across

Row 2 – Step 3

Sc into the last st, ch1, turn.

Row 3 – Step 1

Sc into the first st, *ch1, skp 1 ch, sc into the next st*, repeat across

Row 3 – Step 2

Sc into the last st.

That’s all there is to it! Once you get going it’s just flows right off your hook!
