Learn The Half Double Crochet Cluster Stitch

The Half Double Crochet Cluster Stitch is quite an easy stitch, especially if you are familiar with Half Double Crochet 2 Together!

The pattern is essentially a bunch of hdc2tog over and over creating beautiful texture.

You can start with any amount of chains.

Below you will find the written steps, followed by the step-by-step photo tutorial.

Abbreviations

  • hdc – Single crochet
  • yo – Yarn Over
  • ch – Chain
  • chsp – Chain Space
  • sk- Skip
  • st – Stitch
  • *_* denotes repeat sequence

Half Double Crochet Cluster Stitch Written Instructions:

Foundation Chain: Chain any number of stitches.

Row 1: In the second ch from the hook, yo, insert hook, yo, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yo, insert hook into next ch, yo, pull up a loop (5 loops on hook), yo, pull through all 5 loops, *yo, insert hook into the same ch you just used, yo, pull up a loop, yo, insert hook into the next ch, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through all 5 loops* repeat across, ch1, turn.

Row 2: Yo, insert hook into the same st as the ch1, yo pull up a loop, yo, insert hook into the next st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through all 5 loops, *yo, insert hook into the same st you just used, yo, pull up a loop, yo, insert hook into the next st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through all 5 loops* repeat across, ch1, turn.

Repeat row 2 until your desired length!

That’s all there is to it! Once you get going it’s just flows right off your hook!
