It’s All About That Texture
The Caia Mug Rug uses the Single Crochet Cluster Stitch giving it great texture and visual appeal.
The pattern is worked back and forth in rows and is easy to customize the size to your preference.
You can add tassels for that whimsical feel, or leave them off for a more modern vibe.

The Pattern
Ch 22
Row 1: Sc into the second ch from the hook, *ch1, sk 1 ch, sc into the next ch*, repeat across, ch1, turn (11).
Row 2: Sc into the first st, ch1, sc2tog by inserting your hook into the next 2 chsps, ch1, *sc2tog inserting hook 1st into same chsp as previous st then into next chsp, ch1*, repeat across, sc into the last st, ch1, turn (11).

Row 4 – 13 : Repeat alternating Row 2 and 3. After row 13, tie off.
Tassels
Cut your desired amount of tassels about 5-6″ long. Attach to the ends of the mug rug, trim if necessary.
The number of tassels is completely up to your desired taste! For reference I used approximately 13 for each side, one for the end of each row.
You can also include your ends in as tassels.
Weave in all ends, if you did not use tassels, block if desired, and you’re done!
